We will gather from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at PRISCO’s, 8 Romney Road (Rt 18), Bridgewater, Massachusetts. There is a parking area to the left of the Ice Cream Stand where the Mustangs will be parked. Come for all or part of the time. Get yourself an Ice Cream, or have Burger, Hot Dog or Sandwich for an early dinner. Fun Run National Mustang Day 2018

The Mustang Car Club of New England (MCCNE) has pieced together a “Run to F40 Motorsports" for National Mustang Day 2018. In late 2015, the idea of the Mustang World coming together on April 17th and driving their Mustang was conceived, and National Mustang Day was born. The idea is to let the world know April 17th is owned by the Mustangs. Instead of being on the actual Mustang Birthday, April 17, MCCNE is planning our event on Monday, April 16, 2018, which also happens to be Patriot’s Day, a holiday for most people.

Fun Run to Halderman Barn Museum in Ohio

The trip would take 4 days. The proposed itinerary is as follows:

*- Day 1, Sunday, June 25, 2017: We can meet at the rest area on I-84 West just beyond the Route 20 interchange in Sturbridge, Massachusetts at 12:00PM to start our journey to Ohio. I have mapped a route via I-84 West to CT-15 South, to I-287 in New York, to I-81 South in Pennsylvania. We then take I-80 South to US-11 South, where our hotel awaits in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It should take us 5 – 6 hours to get to the hotel from the Rest Area in Connecticut. I will research places to stop for stretching, eating and resting, so the 5 - 6 hours may be more like 7 – 8.

*- Day 2, Monday, June 26, 2017: We awake and have breakfast at the hotel in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and get on the road to Englewood, Ohio. The route takes us along I-76 West, to I-70 West into Ohio where our hotel awaits in Englewood, Ohio. It should take us 6 – 7 hours to get to the hotel in Englewood, Ohio from the hotel in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. I will research places to stop for stretching, eating and resting, so the 6 – 7 hours may be more like 8 – 10.

* Day 3, Tuesday, June 27, 2017: We awake and have breakfast at the hotel, and get on the road the Halderman Barn Museum in Tipp City, Ohio. The museum is only 15 – 20 minutes from the hotel. Once at the Halderman Barn Museum, Gale Halderman gives us a private tour. We get to meet the man who was the primary designer of the original Mustang. I am thinking we are there for 4 hours. After the tour, and some questions and answers, we take I-70 East into Pennsylvania to US-30 West in Breezewood, Pennsylvania where we spend the night. It should take us 5 – 6 hours to get to the hotel from the Halderman Barn Museum. I will research places to stop for stretching, eating and resting, so the 5 - 6 hours may be more like 7 – 8.

*- Day 4, Wednesday, June 28, 2017: We awake and have breakfast at the hotel, and get on the road back home to New England. We take I-70 East to I-76 East, to I-81 North, to I-78 East, to I-287 North, to CT-15 North, and, if people want, we could stop in Portland, Connecticut at Chasing Classic Cars’ Wayne Carini’s F40 Motorsport car dealership and shop. It should take us 5 – 6 hours to get to F40 Motorsports from the hotel in Breezewood, Pennsylvania. I will research places to stop for stretching, eating and resting, so the 5 - 6 hours may be more like 7 – 8. I could contact him ahead of time so he will be expecting a parade of Mustangs sometime in the afternoon. After the stop at F40 Motorsports, we make our way to I-84 East, and go our separate ways.

It is with a saddened heart that I am writing to you. I wanted to let you all know that George Valeri passed away early Wednesday March 22nd.

He has been a big part of our club and always eager to help where ever we needed him. Most of you probably know him from working our clothing trailer and helping to hand out trophies. George not only was an active board member with MCCNE he also was the membership director for MCA. He put many miles on his Mustang as he traveled the country on MCA business and promoting MCCNE.

Please keep George’s Family in your thoughts and prayers.

Our Days Journey

We will meet at 10 AM at Merchants Row Shopping Center. From there we will drive along scenic Route 123 through Norwell, MA. From Norwell we will travel to Scituate Harbor and then to the Scituate Lighthouse. We will continue on our journey to Cohasset along the waters edge. Our Final destination will be Pemberton Point in Hull, MA, which has great views of Boston Harbor and the skyline.

We all know what a great club MCCNE is…a group of people who come together to help each other, share their knowledge, give to others and conduct special events - all interconnected by the Ford Mustang. It’s a team in every sense of the word.

We don’t think of the individuals very often who make up the team – unless there is a crisis. But we do have a club member who has provided special help for many people over the past seven years.

Peter, an MCCNE member for over 20 years – his member number is 2 digits – and his dog, a pit bull named Lucy, have been providing pet therapy to healing children and hospice patients. Lucy has been a therapy dog for the past seven years and she will turn 9 this October. She was a rescue dog for Peter, and together they had to pass an intensive 10-step program by the American Kennel Club and tests by Therapy Dogs International. It is rare for a pit bull to be certified as a therapy dog.

Members will recognize Peter – the tall, friendly guy with the classic ’68 Mustang and the propped up surfboard on the trunk. He has a smile and a handshake or hug for everyone – one-to-one therapy of his own. Peter and Lucy have joined our MCCNE Board meetings on numerous occasions.

And the Milestone………. This past July Peter and Lucy celebrated their 2000^th therapy visit.

The pair has logged visits to Cedar Crest Rehab, the Ronald MacDonald and Halworth houses, and St. Mary’s Home for Children in the Providence area, and multiple other sites. A volunteer at Beacon Hospice said it best…”Peter and Lucy are just amazing and the time they take week after week without getting paid for their special visits is just amazing”

Devens Show fundraiser

We will be doing a fun fundraiser at the Devens Show 10/2/2016. We will have an auction to get your favorite picture in our 2017 calendar. Each month will be up for grabs. Starting bids will be $20 for each month, and Starting bids will be $25 to be on the cover the cover.
The winning bidders will win a spot on the month that they bid on and one 2017 calendar. Payment will be due upon winning.

Parade to Mustangs Unlimited, Sunday, September 11, 2016

The Great American Pony Drive 2016 will be travelling to the Mustang Club of America (MCA) 40th Anniversary Celebration in Indianapolis, Indiana in late August/early September, and then to New England. MCCNE has been in contact with David Turnbull who is running the Pony Drive, and we have organized a Parade for MCCNE Members and Pony Drive Participants to caravan to Mustangs Unlimited in Manchester, CT for the MCCNE 37th Annual Mustang Power Show on Sunday, September 11, 2016. If you are interested in participating in the Parade to Mustangs Unlimited, please email Rob Collari at rcollari1966@gmail.com Please include the year, model and color of your Mustang along with your cell phone number. Rob drives a silver 2003 Mustang GT Convertible, and will plan on being at the rest area by 7:30AM. Rob’s cell phone number is 617-799-3072 in case you need to contact him on the way to the parade. Pony Drive @ New Hampshire Speedway
